The Cross Trail TA and Cross Trail Lite TA are LEKI’s answer to versatile trail-to-trekking performance — fast-adjusting, packable poles designed for everything from Dartmoor rough ground to the switchbacks of Snowdonia’s lower flanks. This 14 mm aluminium middle section, introduced alongside the Cross Trail range from 2023, is the replacement centre piece that keeps both poles functioning with precision and safety over long miles. At 445 mm with a black anodized finish and the Speed Lock Plus (SPL+) lever mechanism, it is factory-matched to the specifications these poles were built around. The Speed Lock Plus (SPL+) system locks with a single lever flip and holds adjustment under sustained load without creep or slip. This section slots into the upper section and accepts the lower section in the standard three-part telescoping configuration, restoring the full adjustment range and structural integrity of the original pole. Only order this section if the printed length on your existing middle section reads 445 mm and the diameter is 14 mm.

✓ Article code verification: the full pole article code is printed on the handle or upper section. Match the last six digits of your pole’s code to the codes listed above to confirm compatibility before ordering.
✓ To fit: open the Speed Lock Plus (SPL+) lever on the upper section, slide the new middle section fully into the upper section’s lower end until correctly seated, then close the lever firmly to lock. Insert the lower section into the bottom of the middle section and lock in the same way.
✓ Lever tension adjustment: if the lever feels too loose or over-tight after fitting, open the lever fully, rotate the tension adjustment collar a quarter-turn (clockwise to tighten, anti-clockwise to loosen), then close and test again. Repeat until resistance feels correct and the section holds under load.
✓ Post-fit care: after fitting, dry the section fully before storing extended. Do not apply oil or grease to the locking mechanism. If any section resists adjustment in the field, check for grit or debris in the lock collar area and clean before use.

✗ Speed Lock 1 (SL1) poles — different lever geometry and collar; SPL+ sections are not interchangeable with SL1
✗ Speed Lock 2 (SL2) poles — SL2 uses a separate locking generation and a different section interface
✗ SLS (Super Lock System) poles — SLS uses a twist-lock collar, mechanically incompatible with the SPL+ lever
✗ Poles with a different section specification — this section is 14 mm diameter and 445 mm; do not fit if your existing middle section reads a different diameter or printed length
