The Khumbu Lite, Makalu Lite and Legacy Lite are LEKI’s streamlined aluminium trekking poles designed for walkers who want a genuinely lighter kit without stepping up to carbon. Popular across the Cairngorms, the West Highland Way and the hillier sections of the Pennine Way, these poles share the 14 mm tube architecture and the Speed Lock Plus (SPL+) lever system introduced from 2019. This black anodized middle section at 462 mm length is the correct replacement for the entire Lite family range, covering both standard and antishock variants where applicable. As the connecting section between the upper section’s lever assembly and the lower section’s tip, this middle section takes the majority of sideways loading during use and is the most common replacement item in the Lite range. The Speed Lock Plus (SPL+) mechanism uses a single lever to clamp and release, with a tension adjustment collar that allows fine-tuning to the user’s preference. Only order this section if your existing middle section carries a 462 mm printed length and 14 mm diameter.

✓ To fit: open the Speed Lock Plus (SPL+) lever on the upper section, slide the new middle section fully into the upper section’s lower end until seated, close the lever. Insert the lower section into the base of the middle section and close its lever.
✓ Lever tension adjustment: open the lever, rotate the tension collar a quarter-turn (clockwise to tighten), close and test. Adjust until the lever closes firmly and the section holds position under load.
✓ Post-fit care: dry the section before storage; do not store collapsed with moisture inside. Keep the lock collar clean and free from grit.

✗ Speed Lock 1 (SL1) poles — different lever and collar; SPL+ sections will not lock correctly in SL1 poles
✗ Speed Lock 2 (SL2) poles — SL2 uses a separate locking generation incompatible with SPL+
✗ SLS (Super Lock System) poles — SLS is a twist-lock mechanism, incompatible with the SPL+ lever
✗ Poles with a different section specification — this section is 14 mm diameter and 462 mm; do not fit if your existing section has a different printed length or diameter
