Description
This is the genuine LEKI replacement middle segment 3 for Legacy FX TA folding poles in the 110–130cm Vario range. It fits pole model LE65222452 (Legacy FX TA, neonyellow-darkblue-white) and is also compatible with LE65220751 (Makalu FX TA). The part covers all five size steps from 110cm through to 130cm — one part number fits the entire size range.
The section is constructed from aluminium and measures 18mm at the upper connection point and 16mm at the lower connection, giving a tapered fit within the ELD (External Locking Device) FX folding system. It is sold as a single section without basket. The lower section (LE797065222452) is a separate spare part.

Which section is this? ▼
The Legacy FX TA is a three-segment folding pole. Counting from the tip upward, the sections are: lower segment (tip end), middle segment 3 (this part), and the grip assembly. Middle segment 3 is the central shaft section — the one that folds up between the lower section and the grip when the pole is packed down. It connects to the lower section via the lower ELD clip and to the grip assembly via the upper connection joint.
Aluminium construction ▼
This section uses the same aluminium alloy as the original Legacy FX TA pole. Aluminium provides a balance of strength, flex, and impact resistance suited to trekking use. The 18/16mm taper is machined to LEKI's production tolerances, ensuring the section seats correctly in the ELD locking clips with no play. Do not substitute with a section from a different pole model — diameter differences of even 0.5mm will compromise the fold joint.
One size fits all 110–130cm poles ▼
Unlike adjustable telescopic poles where each segment is a different length per size, FX folding poles in the Vario range use a single section length for the entire 110–130cm span. The length adjustment is handled at the upper Vario joint, not within the shaft sections. This means one part number covers every size in the range, from the 110cm option up to the 130cm option.
