Which section is MS2?
The Cross Trail FX Superlite Compact has four sections. From the tip upward: Section 1 is the Lower (14 mm, tip end). Section 2 is MS2 (12 mm) — this section. Section 3 is MS1 (12 mm). Section 4 is the Upper collar (12 mm, attached to grip). MS2 is directly above the lower section.
CLD vs Speed Lock 2 Plus — what’s the difference?
The CLD (Core Locking Device) is the internal folding lock that connects each section when the pole is deployed — it is the mechanism this MS2 section uses. The Speed Lock 2 Plus is the external lever on the lower section only, used to adjust pole height. Replacing MS2 does not require opening the Speed Lock 2 Plus.
How to fit
1. Fully extend the pole and locate the CLD joint between the lower section and MS2.
2. Press the CLD button to release the lock at that joint and separate the sections.
3. Thread the internal cord through the replacement MS2 section, reconnect the joint, and press the CLD button to lock.
