Description
LEKI Code: LESECL49 14 mm Lower Section 480 mm Length Carbon / Black Speed Lock 1 (SL1) 16/14 mm Section Production Era: 2011–2014
The Photosystem Carbon was built for walkers who wanted a genuinely lightweight trekking pole with the rigidity of a carbon upper section and the confidence of a Speed Lock 1 lever adjustment — poles suited to the long ridge walks of the Cairngorm plateau or the exposed footpaths of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path where weight savings matter across a full day. The lower section, finished in carbon black (colour code 098), is the ground contact point of that setup and the part most likely to take damage from rock strikes and uneven terrain. This genuine replacement restores the 14 mm diameter, 480 mm printed length, and structural integrity the pole requires. This is an aluminium lower section with a carbon black finish (098), produced from the 2011–2014 era and built around LEKI's Speed Lock 1 (SL1) external lever system. The SL1 lever clamps against the outer wall of the lower section — the correct 14 mm diameter ensures full clamping force without overtightening. A section of incorrect diameter will either slip under the lever or prevent it from closing flush. Sold as a single section.

► Compatible Poles & Fitting Guide
This lower section is confirmed compatible with the following LEKI Speed Lock 1 (SL1) trekking poles. Always verify the printed length and diameter on your existing lower section before ordering.
✓ Photosystem Carbon — 6332097
✓ Length verification: Confirm the 480 mm printed marking on your existing section before ordering — any section showing a different printed length requires a different spare part.
✓ Fitting: Slide the new lower section into the middle section from the tip end. Close the Speed Lock 1 lever and confirm the section holds firmly under hand pressure. The lever should close flush against the collar — if it does not fully close, the section may not be compatible with your specific pole generation.
✓ Lever tension adjustment: If the section is loose under normal lever clamping force, tighten the adjuster on the clamp collar clockwise in quarter-turn increments until the lever locks firmly. Re-test grip after each adjustment before use.
✓ Care after fitting: Wipe the section clean after each outing in muddy or wet conditions. Keep the SL1 lever pivot free from grit — debris build-up prevents the lever from closing flush and reduces clamping security over time.
✓ Not sure? Email photos of the full pole, the damaged section, and any visible article codes to [email protected] so the correct replacement can be confirmed before ordering.
► Not Compatible With
✗ SLS (Super Lock System) poles — internal twist-lock mechanism; entirely different locking architecture and section interface from the SL1 external lever system
✗ Speed Lock 2 (SL2) and Speed Lock + (SL+) poles — later Speed Lock generations with evolved lever geometry; not interchangeable with SL1 sections
✗ Classic Lock (CLA) poles — older external lever system; different section tolerances and clamping interface, not compatible with SL1 sections
✗ Poles with a different lower section specification — must match 14 mm diameter and 480 mm printed length exactly; a section with incorrect dimensions will not clamp securely in the Speed Lock 1 lever
BEFORE YOU ORDER — FOUR-POINT CHECK
✓ Printed length: Must read 480 mm on your existing lower section — check the printed marking on the section, not a tape measurement of the physical length
✓ Diameter: Confirm 14 mm lower section diameter — measure with calipers at the widest point
✓ Locking system: Confirm Speed Lock 1 (SL1) — the lever is a hinged metal clip that flips outward to release. If your pole has an internal twist collar (SLS) or a later SL2 lever, this section is not suitable
✓ Construction: 3-section telescopic (Vario) with 16/14 mm section profile — verify the profile and construction type before ordering
✓ Unsure? Email photos of the full pole, the damaged section, and any visible article codes to [email protected] for confirmation before ordering
