Description
The LEKI Pin Tool is the official removal tool for Speed Lock+ and Speed Lock 2+ levers on LEKI trekking poles. Use it when the lever nut cannot be unscrewed by hand — the Pin Tool provides the mechanical advantage needed to release the lever safely, without damage to the locking mechanism or pole sections.
This tool is specifically required for the "+" variants of LEKI's lever clamp systems: Speed Lock+ (SL+) and Speed Lock 2+ (SL2+). It is not needed for Speed Lock 1, Speed Lock 2 without +, or any other LEKI locking system. Colour: red. Weight: 26g.
Sold singly.
Why it matters on the mountain
- Speed Lock+ and Speed Lock 2+ levers require specific mechanical action to remove — hand pressure alone risks rounding the nut or cracking the housing. The Pin Tool provides the correct controlled force.
- Servicing your pole — replacing a worn lever, swapping sections, or carrying out maintenance — is impossible without removing the lever first. This tool makes that step straightforward.
- At 26g, it's light enough to carry in a trail pack on multi-day trips where a broken or jammed lever could put a pole out of action mid-route.
- Using the correct tool preserves the lever, the bolt, and the pole section — incorrect improvised tools cause damage that makes subsequent servicing harder.

HIGHLIGHTS
Which levers need this tool? ▼
The Pin Tool is required exclusively for the "+" variants of LEKI's lever clamp family: Speed Lock+ (SL+) and Speed Lock 2+ (SL2+). These are the external clamp levers found on a wide range of LEKI trekking poles and some FX folding poles. The "+" designation indicates a specific lever bolt design that requires pin-action to release cleanly. If your poles use Speed Lock 1, Speed Lock 2 (without the +), Super Lock System, or push-button FX.One, this tool is not required.
When to use it ▼
The Pin Tool is needed in two situations: first, when a Speed Lock+ or SL2+ lever nut has tightened to the point where hand pressure won't move it; second, any time you need to disassemble the lever for servicing, section replacement, or spare part installation and the nut is seated too firmly for manual release. LEKI strongly recommends watching the official video guide before first use — the technique matters as much as the tool itself.
Video instructions ▼
LEKI publishes an official step-by-step video guide covering correct Pin Tool usage. Watch it before attempting lever removal — the process is straightforward when done correctly, but improper technique risks damaging the lever housing.
