The Journey is LEKI’s gateway trekking pole — a 16 mm aluminium three-section design built for walkers who want reliable adjustability without unnecessary weight, equally at home on the long paths of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs as on the easier ridges of the Brecon Beacons. This nature / silver anodized middle section is the correct 495 mm replacement for the Journey, produced in the Speed Lock Plus (SPL+) generation from 2019 to 2020. It is the structural spine of the pole’s adjustable length system and the section most frequently damaged by ground impact or accidental compression. Fitting this section restores the full telescoping range of the Journey to factory condition. The Speed Lock Plus (SPL+) lever snaps open and closed with a single clean motion, holding adjustment securely under walking load. The nature / silver anodized finish matches the original Journey colour exactly. Before ordering, confirm the printed length on your existing middle section reads 495 mm and that the diameter is 16 mm.

► Compatible Poles & Fitting Guide
This section is confirmed compatible with the following LEKI pole model. Verify your article code and printed length before ordering.
✓ Journey — article code 6492019 (2019–2020 production)
✓ Article code check: the pole’s full article code is printed on the handle or upper section. The Journey (SPL+) code is 6492019. If your Journey’s article code differs, email [email protected] with photos to confirm the correct replacement section.
✓ To fit: open the Speed Lock Plus (SPL+) lever on the upper section, slide the new middle section fully into the upper section’s lower end until correctly seated, then close the lever to lock. Insert the lower section into the base of the middle section and lock in the same way.
✓ Lever tension adjustment: open the lever fully, rotate the tension adjustment collar a quarter-turn (clockwise to tighten, anti-clockwise to loosen), close and test. Repeat until the lever closes firmly and the section holds position under pole-loading pressure.
✓ Post-fit care: dry the section thoroughly before storing. Do not collapse the pole and store it damp, as moisture trapped inside the lock collar can cause corrosion. Keep the locking mechanism clean and free from grit and sand.

✗ Speed Lock 1 (SL1) poles — different lever mechanism and collar geometry; SPL+ sections are not interchangeable with SL1
✗ Speed Lock 2 (SL2) poles — SL2 uses a separate locking generation and an incompatible section interface
✗ SLS (Super Lock System) poles — SLS uses a twist-lock collar, mechanically incompatible with the SPL+ lever
✗ Poles with a different section specification — this section is 16 mm diameter and 495 mm; do not fit if your existing section has a different printed length or diameter
