LEKI Code: LESECL03 12 mm Lower Section 440 mm Length Dark Anthracite SLS (Super Lock System) 16/14/12 mm Section Production Era: 2004–2010
The Super Lock System was LEKI’s internal twist-lock mechanism — a fundamentally different approach to section adjustment from the lever clamps that followed. On routes across the Brecon Beacons or the Pennine Way, SLS poles from the mid-2000s built a reputation for clean lines and a positive twist-lock feel that many walkers still rate. LESECL03 is the genuine LEKI replacement lower section for this era: 12 mm diameter, 440 mm printed length, finished in dark anthracite aluminium, and built for the SLS internal twist interface. It fits the LEKI Carbon Ergometric and other compatible SLS 16/14/12 mm poles from approximately 2004 to 2010. The lower section takes more punishment than any other part of a telescopic pole — it contacts the ground on every stride and sits at the base of the adjustment range where wear on the twist-lock sleeve first becomes apparent. A worn or damaged lower section on an SLS pole does not mean the pole is finished; LESECL03 restores the original 12 mm diameter and 440 mm printed length, allowing the SLS mechanism to seat and lock correctly. Confirm the 440 mm printed length and 12 mm diameter on your existing lower section before ordering — these two measurements are the definitive identifiers for this part.

► Compatible Poles & Fitting Guide
LESECL03 is confirmed compatible with the following LEKI poles where identification has been established from official LEKI product records. Always verify against the 440 mm printed length and 12 mm diameter on your existing lower section — these measurements override model name matching.
✓ Carbon Ergometric — article codes 062130, 072130
✓ Additional confirmed compatible article code (model name not established from available sources): 062261
✓ Additional confirmed compatible article code (model name not established from available sources): 062360
✓ Additional confirmed compatible article code (model name not established from available sources): 072128
✓ To fit: twist the SLS lock at the base of the middle section anti-clockwise to open. The lower section will release and slide free. Insert LESECL03 from below, aligning the section with the internal twist-lock collar. Push until the collar seats fully, then twist clockwise to lock. Set to your required length and confirm the lock holds under a firm pull-test before use.
✓ Lock tension adjustment: if the SLS lock feels loose after fitting, check that the section is fully seated before adjusting. On most SLS poles the locking tension is fixed by the collar geometry — if the lock does not hold firmly, inspect the collar and internal sleeve for wear or debris before reuse.
✓ If you are unsure whether your pole uses SLS: rotate the joint collar between the lower and middle sections. SLS releases with a short anti-clockwise twist; if your pole has an external lever at this joint it uses Speed Lock, not SLS, and this section is not compatible.
► Not Compatible With
✗ Speed Lock 1 (SL1) poles — the external lever clamp on SL1 poles uses different clamping geometry and a different tube interface; not interchangeable with the SLS internal twist-lock system
✗ Speed Lock 2 (SL2) or Speed Lock + (SL+) poles — later lever-based locking generations with incompatible section interfaces; do not attempt to fit this section to any Speed Lock variant
✗ Poles with a 14 mm or 16 mm lower section — LESECL03 is a 12 mm section only; fitting it in a pole designed for a larger diameter will result in a loose, unsafe fit
✗ Poles whose existing lower section is not marked 440 mm — even a small difference in printed length indicates a different section specification; search by your actual printed length to find the correct LEKI section code
BEFORE YOU ORDER — FOUR-POINT CHECK
✓ Printed length: the measurement printed on your existing lower section must read 440 mm — this is the primary identifier and takes precedence over model name or colour
✓ Diameter: the tip end of the section must measure 12 mm — use a calliper or confirm from the original product documentation
✓ Locking system: your pole must use the SLS internal twist-lock — the section is released by twisting the collar at the joint, not by opening an external lever; if your pole uses any variant of Speed Lock, this section is not compatible
✓ Construction: confirm your pole is 3-section telescopic with a 16/14/12 mm section profile — the middle section should be 14 mm in diameter where it meets the lower section joint
