The Wanderfreund-AS was LEKI’s dependable antishock trekking pole for the walker who wanted reliable shock absorption without unnecessary complexity — a three-section SLS pole finished in black anodized aluminium, at home on the South Downs or the Brecon Beacons as much as on longer routes through the Alps. LESECL10 is the genuine LEKI replacement lower section for the Wanderfreund-AS family: 14 mm in diameter, 440 mm printed length, finished in black anodized aluminium, and built for the SLS internal twist-lock interface. It covers the Wanderfreund-AS across its production run from approximately 2004 to 2009. A 440 mm lower section sits at the longer end of the standard SLS range and is a precise specification — the printed length determines the pole’s adjustment range, the clamp collar seating, and whether the SLS mechanism locks correctly within the middle section. LESECL10 restores the original 14 mm diameter and 440 mm geometry, allowing the SLS twist-lock to function as it did from new. The 440 mm printed length on your existing lower section is the essential check before ordering: other SLS sections in similar finishes are specified to different lengths and will not fit correctly.

✓ To fit: twist the SLS collar at the base of the middle section anti-clockwise to release. The lower section slides free. Insert LESECL10 from below, aligning it with the internal twist-lock collar. Push until fully seated, then twist clockwise until the lock engages with a firm stop. Set to your required length and confirm the lock holds under a firm pull-test before use.
✓ SLS lock check: after fitting, set the pole to mid-length and apply firm downward pressure on the tip. The section must not move. If it slips, check the section is fully seated and inspect the internal collar for wear or debris. The SLS mechanism is fixed-tension — if the collar does not hold after correct fitting it requires replacement, not adjustment.
✓ If you are unsure whether your pole uses SLS: rotate the collar at the joint between the lower and middle sections. SLS releases with a short anti-clockwise twist; if your pole has an external lever at this joint it uses Speed Lock, not SLS, and this section is not compatible.
