The Chiara and Cressida are LEKI’s dedicated ladies’ trekking poles from the 2008–2009 production era, engineered with a slimmer 16/14/12 mm profile and the distinctive Nature / Silver Anodized finish that defined LEKI’s women’s range during this period. Whether navigating the glacial valleys around Loch Lomond or the exposed ridges of the Lake District’s Helvellyn, these poles balanced lightweight construction with the proven SLS Super Lock System twist collar. This 420 mm lower section is the tip-end component that takes the most punishment on stony ground and is the most frequently replaced part. Accurate replacement requires verifying both the printed length (420 mm) and diameter (12 mm) on your existing lower section before ordering. The SLS twist collar is specific to this generation and is not interchangeable with any Speed Lock lever design. Note that a later Cressida generation used SL1 locking with a different section specification — confirm your pole’s locking type is an SLS twist collar before ordering this section.

✓ Twist the SLS collar at the base of the middle section anti-clockwise to release the lower section. Insert the replacement 420 mm section from below until it seats fully at the internal stop. Twist the collar clockwise until hand-tight and locked. Pull-test the joint before use to confirm no slip or rotation.
✓ SLS lock verification: apply firm downward pressure on the tip of the fully assembled pole; the lower section must not slip, extend, or rotate. Any movement indicates incomplete locking or collar wear requiring attention before use on trail.
✓ Generation check: a later Cressida model (LESECL114) used SL1 Speed Lock 1 lever locking with a Black Anodized finish — if your pole has an external lever at the lower joint rather than a twist collar, you need LESECL114, not this section.
✓ Nature / Silver Anodized condition: inspect the anodized finish on the lower section for surface oxidation or dulling; sections from 2008–2009 are now 16–17 years old and may show age on the finish, though this does not affect function.
