Description
LEKI Code: LESECL30 14 mm Lower Section 490 mm Length Nature / Silver Anodized Speed Lock 2 (SL2) 18/16/14 mm Section Production Era: 2008–2009
The Yukon AS, Peak XL AS and Yukon Antishock are LEKI’s full-diameter anti-shock trekking poles from the 2008–2009 production era, engineered for walkers who demanded active joint damping on the demanding descents of the Scottish Highlands or the long rocky ridgelines of Dartmoor. The 18/16/14 mm three-section SL2 construction delivered the Speed Lock 2 external lever locking preferred by walkers who needed fast, positive adjustment combined with the distinctive Nature / Silver Anodized finish of LEKI’s premium standard-diameter range. This 490 mm lower section is the tip-end unit and the component that sustains the most direct impact load in use. Correct replacement requires verifying both the printed length (490 mm) and diameter (14 mm) on your existing lower section before ordering. The SL2 Speed Lock 2 lever is specific to this generation and cannot be substituted with SLS, SL1, or SL+ systems. The AS anti-shock damping is housed in the upper assembly and is unaffected by lower section replacement — but the SL2 collar on the replacement section must match exactly for safe locking under load.

► Compatible Poles & Fitting Guide
LESECL30 is confirmed compatible with the following LEKI poles where identification has been established from official LEKI product records. Always verify against the 490 mm printed length and 14 mm diameter on your existing lower section — these measurements override model name matching.
✓ Yukon AS — article codes 082038, 092038, 6352038
✓ Peak XL AS — article codes 082040, 092040, 6352040
✓ Yukon Antishock — article code 6342038
✓ Additional confirmed compatible article codes (model names not established from available sources): 092760, 6352760, 6382781, 6352036
✓ Open the SL2 lever fully at the lower joint. The lower section slides free from the middle section. Insert the replacement 490 mm section from below until it seats completely at the internal stop. Close the lever firmly with a positive, decisive action. Pull-test the joint before use to confirm secure locking with no slip or rotation.
✓ SL2 lock verification: apply firm downward pressure on the tip of the fully assembled pole; the lower section must not slip, extend, or produce any clicking or play. Any movement indicates incomplete lever closure or collar wear requiring inspection before use.
✓ SL2 identification: the external lever is at the lower joint with a smooth, positive closing action; distinguishable from SL1 (smaller lever) and from the SLS system (no twist collar present on this generation).
✓ AS spring note: the anti-shock damping is in the upper grip assembly and is unaffected by replacing the lower section; if dampening feel has changed, inspect the upper section separately.
✓ Age check: Yukon AS, Peak XL AS and Yukon Antishock sections from 2008–2009 are now 16–17 years old; inspect the SL2 lever hinge, collar body, and anodized finish for corrosion or wear before use under trail load.
► Not Compatible With
✗ SLS (Super Lock System) twist collar — entirely different locking mechanism; the SLS twist design cannot engage with the SL2 lever collar on this section
✗ Speed Lock 1 (SL1) or Speed Lock + (SL+) external levers — different lever geometry and collar dimensions; will not lock correctly with this section
✗ Speed Lock 2+ (SL2+) — revised collar geometry with updated lever design; not directly interchangeable with the SL2 system on the Yukon AS generation
✗ Poles whose existing lower section is not marked 490 mm — the printed length is the definitive check; do not order based on model name or finish alone
BEFORE YOU ORDER — FOUR-POINT CHECK
✓ Printed length: 490 mm — confirm this figure is printed on your existing lower section before ordering
✓ Diameter: 14 mm — verify the diameter marked on your existing lower section is 14 mm; this is the innermost section of an 18/16/14 mm standard-profile pole
✓ Locking system: Speed Lock 2 (SL2) — external lever at the lower joint; confirmed on 2008–2009 Yukon AS, Peak XL AS and Yukon Antishock poles; not SLS, SL1, or SL+
✓ Construction: Three-section telescopic aluminium with 18/16/14 mm profile and AS anti-shock upper; verify all three sections extend and collapse correctly after fitting the replacement lower section
