Few sections in the LEKI spare parts range carry as wide a compatibility footprint as LESECL42. The Health Trek 2000, S-M Air Ergo AS, S-M CorTec AS, M-Antishock and a substantial range of companion poles from the 1997–2003 production era all share this same 14 mm, 450 mm, gold anodized lower section — poles that accompanied a generation of walkers across the Lake District, the Peak District, and the gentler gradients of the South Downs long before the Speed Lock era began. LEKI's Classic Lock (CLA) lever mechanism kept those poles securely locked for hundreds of thousands of kilometres of collective use, and this replacement section keeps them walking. Finished in gold anodized aluminium (colour code 035), this section matches the distinctive finish used across the full CLA range of this era. The Classic Lock lever clamp applies clamping pressure directly to the outer wall of the lower section — the correct 14 mm diameter ensures the lever achieves full clamping force without overtightening. Undersized sections result in lever slip and undersized adjustment range; oversized sections prevent the lever from fully closing. Sold as a single section.

✓ Fitting: Slide the new lower section into the middle section from the tip end. Close the Classic Lock lever clamp and confirm the section holds firmly under hand pressure. The lever should close flush — if it does not fully close, the section diameter may not be compatible with your specific pole generation.
✓ Lever tension adjustment: If the section is loose under normal lever clamping force, tighten the small adjuster nut on the clamp collar clockwise in quarter-turn increments until the lever locks securely. Do not overtighten.
► Not Compatible With
✗ Speed Lock 1 (SL1) poles — Speed Lock introduced a different external lever geometry; CLA sections are not interchangeable with SL1 poles even though both use external levers
✗ Speed Lock 2 (SL2) and Speed Lock + (SL+) poles — later Speed Lock generations with evolved interfaces; not compatible with Classic Lock sections
✗ SLS (Super Lock System) poles — internal twist-lock mechanism; entirely different architecture from the CLA external lever system
✗ Poles with a different lower section specification — must match 14 mm diameter and 450 mm printed length exactly; a section with incorrect length or diameter will not clamp correctly in the Classic Lock lever
BEFORE YOU ORDER — FOUR-POINT CHECK
✓ Printed length: Must read 450 mm on your existing lower section — verify on the printed marking, not by physical measurement
✓ Diameter: Confirm 14 mm lower section diameter — measure with calipers at the widest point
✓ Locking system: Confirm Classic Lock (CLA) — the lever is a hinged metal clip that snaps outward to release. If your pole has a later Speed Lock lever (introduced c.2007) or an internal twist-lock (SLS), this section is not suitable
✓ Construction: 3-section telescopic (Vario) with 16/14 mm section profile — verify the profile and construction type before ordering
