This 14 mm lower section is the correct factory replacement for the LEKI Khumbu Antishock trekking pole in the SL2+DSS nature anodized configuration, built on the standard 18/16/14 mm three-section telescopic geometry. The DSS (Dynamic Suspension System) anti-shock spring is integrated into this lower section assembly, providing impact absorption at source rather than in the upper section. The Speed Lock 2 (SL2) external lever clamps against the 14 mm section for height adjustment. The nature anodized finish (colour code 036) and 423 mm printed length are the defining specifications for this section. From long descents above the Cairngorms to well-used paths across the Peak District, the Khumbu Antishock provided DSS cushioning within a familiar LEKI SL2 package. When the lower section is worn, bent, or the DSS mechanism fails, only this specific nature anodized SL2+DSS section restores the original function. ✓ Diameter check: This is a 14 mm section. Measure the diameter of your existing lower section with calipers before ordering. A section measuring a different diameter requires a different spare part.
✓ Length verification: The 423 mm printed length is the defining specification — measure the printed marking on your existing lower section, not the physical length. A section showing any other printed length requires a different spare part.
✓ Fitting: Open the Speed Lock 2 lever to release the existing section, then slide it out from the tip end. Insert the new DSS section and close the lever firmly to secure. The DSS spring mechanism is integrated into this section.
✓ Lock engagement: If the lever does not close fully or the section moves under load, tighten the adjuster nut clockwise in quarter-turn increments. Test the DSS spring function by applying downward pressure after fitting.
