Description
The LEKI Drifter Vario S is a junior alpine ski pole for developing skiers on the piste. Built from HTS 5.5 aluminium on a 2-section Vario construction, it adjusts continuously from 90 to 120 cm — a 30 cm range that accommodates growth across multiple seasons and allows terrain-specific fine-tuning on the day.
The Trigger S SL grip with 2K Soft construction features LEKI's proven 9mm safety release loop. On impact, the grip releases across a 222° arc, allowing the hand to separate cleanly rather than transmitting torsional force through the wrist. Length is locked with the Speed Lock+ external clamp — open the lever, set the length, close and lock. No tools required.
At 221 g per pole, the Drifter Vario S keeps weight low across a full day on the mountain. Fitted with a Cobra Alpine basket as standard. Sold as a pair with Trigger Vario Strap (S-M-L).

Trigger S SL — Safety Release Grip System ▼
The Trigger S SL grip connects to the Trigger Vario Strap via a 9mm loop. Under impact, the connection releases across a 222° arc — the hand separates from the pole cleanly, rather than the wrist absorbing the rotational force. The 2K Soft outer construction provides grip and a degree of insulation for hands inside gloves. Compatible with all LEKI alpine gloves featuring the Trigger S system.
Vario Adjustable Length — 90 to 120 cm ▼
The Drifter Vario S adjusts continuously across a 30 cm range. Open the Speed Lock+ lever, slide the section to the required length, close and lock — no tools required. This makes the poles adaptable across multiple seasons as a skier grows, and allows quick adjustment for different terrain types during a day on the mountain. Minimum length is 90 cm; maximum is 120 cm.
Speed Lock+ — External Clamping System ▼
Speed Lock+ is an external lever clamp with a holding force exceeding 75 kg — well above the forces encountered during normal ski use. The lever tension adjusts via an eccentric knob to account for gloves, temperature, and personal preference. Adjustment is one-handed and can be done quickly on the mountain without removing gloves.

HTS 5.5 is LEKI's mid-range aluminium alloy, used across the junior and entry alpine range for its balance of durability and controlled weight. The 14|12 mm section diameter (upper|lower) delivers the structural rigidity needed for an active junior skier. At 221 g per pole, the Drifter Vario S is light enough not to fatigue young arms across a full day, while remaining robust enough for the hard-use demands of learning and progressing on the mountain. Manufactured in the Czech Republic.
