LEKI Makalu Lite

 

The LEKI Makalu Lite is a three-section aluminium trekking pole pair built for adults who want the dependability of the Makalu platform in a lighter, slimmer construction. At 248 g per pole with a 16|14|12 mm section diameter, it sits meaningfully below the standard Makalu in both weight and bulk, making it particularly well suited to faster-paced mountain days, lighter pack carry, and those who prefer a more nimble pole underfoot.

HTS 6.5 aluminium throughout the upper, middle and lower sections delivers the structural reliability expected of the Makalu family, while the Aergon Air grip provides a comfortable, ergonomic hold across varied terrain. The Speed Lock plus locking system handles length adjustment from 110 cm to 130 cm with the same reliable, glove-friendly lever action found across the Active Series. Flex Tip Short (Carbide) and Trekking 2.0 basket cover mixed mountain trail conditions confidently.

What’s new for SS26: Updated graphics in Malachite Green / Dark Malachite Green / White. Specification and construction are unchanged from the proven SS25 Makalu Lite platform. This is the Standard variant (110–130 cm) — a Compact version (90–125 cm) is also available separately as the Makalu Lite Compact (65621082C).

Aergon Air grip in 2K Foam, Standard size. Ergonomic shape with a comfortable, supportive hold across a full day on the mountain. Speed Lock plus external lever for fast, precise length adjustment between 110 cm and 130 cm. Operable with gloves on. Reliable and consistent across a wide range of temperatures and conditions.

Section construction ▼

Three-section Vario telescopic construction. Aluminium (HTS 6.5) throughout upper, middle and lower sections. Matt finish. Section diameters: 16 | 14 | 12 mm — slimmer than the standard Makalu (18|16|14 mm), contributing to the lighter overall weight. Pack size 67 cm when collapsed.

Flex Tip Short (Carbide) for durable, reliable performance on rocky and mixed mountain ground. Trekking 2.0 basket included for mixed trail conditions.

• LEKI Trigger or Shark click-in glove systems — the Makalu Lite uses an Aergon Air grip with standard strap, not a Trigger interface.
• Sections designed for the standard Makalu (18|16|14 mm diameters) — the Makalu Lite uses a slimmer 16|14|12 mm section architecture. These are not interchangeable.
• DSS antishock tips — the Makalu Lite does not incorporate a DSS system. For DSS compatibility see the Makalu Lite AS.
• FX folding pole architectures — the Makalu Lite is a three-section Vario telescopic design.
