Leki Makalu Cork Lite

The LEKI Makalu Cork Lite is a three-section aluminium trekking pole built for adults who want the proven lightness and slim build of the Makalu Lite platform combined with the premium feel of a natural cork grip. This model, retained specifically for customers who want a real cork grip at an accessible price point within the Makalu range.

The Aergon Air grip in natural cork is the distinguishing feature of this model over the standard Makalu Lite. Cork is naturally cool in warm conditions, warm to the touch in the cold, and manages moisture from the hand throughout a long day on the hill. Over time it moulds gently to the hand, improving comfort with repeated use. The Aergon Air geometry provides the same ergonomic shape and extended grip zone found across the Makalu family, supporting both standard trekking position and a higher hand placement on ascents without repositioning.

The slimmer 16|14|12 mm section construction keeps weight down and gives the Makalu Cork Lite a more nimble, less bulky feel than the standard Makalu. Aluminium (HTS 6.5) throughout all three sections provides reliable durability across mountain and trail terrain. Speed Lock plus handles length adjustment across the full 110–130 cm range, and the 67 cm pack size makes it one of the more compact telescopic poles in the LEKI trekking range.

What’s new for SS26: Updated graphics in Stone Blue Light / Stone Blue Dark. Construction and specification are unchanged from the SS25 Makalu Cork Lite (LE652210892). This is model continued into SS26 — is the only Makalu Lite variant with a natural cork grip. A Compact version of this model is also available as the Makalu Cork Lite Compact (LE656210893C).

Grip ▼

Aergon Air grip in natural cork. The Aergon Air shape provides a broad, ergonomic contact surface with a positive grip angle that supports a neutral wrist position. Natural cork is lightweight, naturally moisture-wicking, warm to the touch in cold conditions, and cool against the hand in warm weather. It moulds gently to the hand over repeated use. An extended lower grip zone provides a convenient secondary hold on steep ascents without requiring a full repositioning. The grip back is rubberised for additional control on descents. This is the defining feature that separates the Makalu Cork Lite from the standard Makalu Lite (LE65621081S), which uses an Aergon Air grip in 2K Foam.

Locking system ▼

Speed Lock plus external lever for fast, precise length adjustment between 110 cm and 130 cm. Operable with gloves on. Lever tension is adjustable to suit different grip preferences.

Section construction ▼

Three-section Vario telescopic construction. Aluminium (HTS 6.5) throughout upper, middle and lower sections. Matt finish. Section diameters: 16 | 14 | 12 mm — slimmer than the standard Makalu (18|16|14 mm), keeping the overall weight lower without compromising durability. Pack size 67 cm when collapsed.

• LEKI Trigger or Shark click-in glove systems — the Makalu Cork Lite uses an Aergon Air grip with standard strap, not a Trigger interface.
• Sections designed for the standard Makalu (18|16|14 mm diameters) — the Makalu Cork Lite uses a slimmer 16|14|12 mm section architecture. These are not interchangeable.
• FX folding pole sections — the Makalu Cork Lite is a three-section Vario telescopic design. FX folding sections are a different architecture and are not compatible.
• DSS antishock tips — the Makalu Cork Lite does not incorporate a DSS system. DSS-compatible tips are not compatible with this model.
